The business news portal Vz.lt published an article “What is lacking for the State Tax Inspectorate to achieve perfection” in which comments were provided by Marius Grajauskas, Managing Partner of LEADELL Bal\u010di\u016bnas and Grajauskas Law Firm.<\/p>\n

The State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) has been recognized as the most advanced among 45 Lithuanian business supervisory institutions, according to the latest assessment conducted by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (EIM). Businesses and experts praise the progress made by VMI, but also offer some advice on what the tax administrator could further improve and enhance.<\/p>\n

Marius Grajauskas asserts that in Lithuania, taxpayers’ rights are not ensured to the same extent as in many other EU and European countries. He acknowledges that this is not the responsibility of the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) but rather a matter for lawmakers to address through legislation.<\/p>\n

For example, in some countries, there is a special tax ombudsman that operates as an independent institution to protect taxpayers’ rights. Taxpayers who disagree with the tax authority’s decisions can turn to the ombudsman, who can assist in reaching a mutual agreement on tax disputes.<\/p>\n
